ECP × Discovery Senior Living Enterprise Partnership

264 Communities.
34 States.
Under 10 Months.

The largest privately held senior living operator in the US needed a clinical platform that could move as fast as they do. Here is how ECP delivered — across a portfolio that few software companies have ever touched.

The Scale

The largest privately held senior living operator in the US — on one clinical platform.

Discovery Senior Living operates nearly 350 communities across nearly 40 states, serving over 36,000 residents under a family of brands that includes Discovery Management Group, Integral Senior Living, Provincial Senior Living, Morada Senior Living, TerraBella, LakeHouse, and Arvum Senior Living.

Standardizing clinical operations at this scale is not a software problem. It is an execution problem. ECP and Discovery solved it together — community by community, state by state, brand by brand.

The Challenge

A portfolio growing faster than any single system could keep up with.

Discovery's growth model is built on acquisition. When a new community joins the portfolio, the clock starts immediately — clinical teams need to be operational, documentation needs to meet regulatory standards, and leadership needs visibility across the entire enterprise. Under a fragmented multi-vendor approach, every acquisition meant a new integration project, a new training cycle, and a new gap in portfolio-level reporting.

By the time Discovery and ECP began conversations, Discovery was managing clinical operations across a patchwork of systems that could not talk to each other and could not scale with them. Post-acquisition transitions were slower than they needed to be. Regional leaders were working around reporting gaps. And the clinical visibility that a 36,000-resident portfolio demands simply was not there.

What Discovery needed was not just a better eMAR or a better EHR. They needed a clinical infrastructure partner — one that could move with them at acquisition speed and give enterprise leadership a unified view of everything, everywhere, in real time.

Multi-vendor clinical fragmentation
Communities across different Discovery brands operated on different clinical systems — making portfolio-level reporting nearly impossible and creating inconsistent care documentation standards.
Slow post-acquisition transitions
Onboarding newly acquired communities onto clinical software was a weeks-long process, creating operational disruption and regulatory risk during the most vulnerable period for new additions to the portfolio.
No enterprise-wide clinical visibility
Incident documentation, medication records, and care plan data lived in separate systems with no common format — preventing leadership from identifying trends, gaps, or risks across the organization.
"
Speed matters during transitions — but consistency and safety matter even more. This implementation has given us the ability to bring newly acquired communities onto a single clinical platform quickly, without compromising training quality, regulatory oversight, or resident care.

The Implementation

264 communities live. 32 training events. Under 10 months.

1
March 2025 — Project Kickoff
Enterprise alignment and rollout architecture
ECP and Discovery established the implementation framework: phased rollout by brand and region, a dedicated joint project team, and a training model designed to scale across 17,000+ employees without sacrificing consistency. Pharmacy integration mappings were initiated across 100+ partners simultaneously.

April – August 2025 — In-Person Training Wave
32 two-day training events across the portfolio
ECP conducted 32 in-person, two-day training events for community Directors and executive leadership — one of the largest coordinated software training efforts in senior living history. Each event was designed for Directors to leave operationally ready, with full clinical functionality live within two weeks of training completion.

Ongoing — Acquisition Integration Protocol
Newly acquired communities live in 10 days or less
One of the defining outcomes of this partnership is a repeatable acquisition playbook. When Discovery adds a new community to its portfolio, the ECP onboarding process is now embedded into the transition plan — enabling go-live within 10 days while maintaining full clinical continuity and regulatory compliance throughout the handoff period.

January 2026 — Phase One Complete
264 communities live. Enterprise visibility achieved.
Phase one of the Discovery-ECP implementation concluded with 264 communities across 34 states fully live on a single unified clinical platform. Discovery's leadership now has enterprise-wide access to standardized clinical data — the same incident categories, the same documentation format, the same performance visibility — across every community in the portfolio.

In Their Own Words

Two CEOs. One shared commitment to resident care.

"Having enterprise-wide access to standardized clinical data changes how we think about oversight. It allows our teams to spend less time reconciling systems and more time focused on resident and community safety — and that is ultimately what this is all about."

"Large-scale implementations only succeed when teams trust the process. Discovery's teams were deeply engaged at every level, and the ability to move communities live quickly — even during acquisitions — reflects a shared focus on practicality, partnership, and execution."
